I headed up to the ex’s wedding this weekend with Laura in tow. We stopped off at Black Mountain to say hey to Phil, Mistie, Miai Dot, and Max. I got lots of photos up at photos.DMFN.net

While visiting with the Cogbills we were introduced to the children’s TV show for the Hipster and Hip-Hop generation, Yo Gabba Gabba! The guests and guest musician’s list is a veritable who’s who of indie rock and, to a lesser degree, hip-hop. The music in the show is all top notch, ranging from loungy lo-fi to Planet Rock-esque beats. It is about the coolest thing for kids since Peewee’s Playhouse.

Laura and I are leaving for New Jersey tomorrow and found out some truly surprising good news. Bjork is scheduled to be the musical guest the day we are going to watch the Late Night with Conan O’Brien taping! Yippeeee!

ALS Walk

Once again it is time for the annual ALS walk and once again old friend Christie Martin is participating and walking in honor of my step-dad, Les Fisher, who died of the disease last year. I’ve pasted a copy of her letter below with a link to the donation site. If you could help out, it would be most appreciated. The disease is incredibly hard on those who have it as well as the people close to those who have it. If you are unaware of what ALS is like, a simple summary is this: you lose control of your body but your mind stays sharp. It starts with being less mobile than you’re used to and ends with your organs shutting down. You lose the ability to communicate even though your mind is unaffected. A truly gruesome way to go.

Hello Everyone,

I hope all of you are well. I am requesting donations again this year for the ALS Walk, September 29th, 10:00am at the Greenville Town Common. This year I am walking in honor of Gay Wilentz, Les Fisher, and Tom Martoccia. You were all so generous last year with your gifts and I appreciated it very much. I hope you can give your support this year as well.

Please click on the link below to go to my Personal Walk Page to donate online. Or you may send a check to made out to ALS Catfish Chapter to:

Christie Martin
113 Breezewood Drive
Apt G
Greenville NC 27858

Thank you!

Christie

Labor Day Bliss, Wedding Woes, Conan Anticipation

I woke up Saturday morning and checked the last minute get-away specials on Yahoo. Four hours later I was on a plane heading to Jacksonville, FL. I arrived in Jacksonville, picked up a convertible bug from the rental company and drove into St. Augustine for a few days of family time. My newest niece, Audrey, is now around 6 months old and her older sister Alexis just started kindergarten last week. I gots tons o’picks up in the gallery.

Coming up in a couple of weeks is Christie’s wedding. The title of the post is misleading because the only woe I have is wondering what to wear. The wedding itself is in a secluded area with only enough room for the actual wedding party, so we will just be at the reception. So; suit, tie, business casual, or kitschy cool? Some of you may be asking, didn’t you used to date a girl named Christie? I sure did, for nearly eight years and yes, that is the same one whose wedding I will be heading to. It should be fun and not the least bit awkward… 🙂

Christie’s wedding will kick off my two weeks of Fall Break. From there Laura and I will be heading to Jersey and New York City where we will get to see a taping of Conan O’Brien and catch up with all of our NYC pals. Should be fun, fun, fun!
